When Amulya Rudraraju joined the Epicor product management team in May, she stepped into a product already gaining momentum. Built by a team of engineers, data scientists, and ERP experts, Grow AI was gearing up to launch its first use case: Item Advisor.

Order entry teams are constantly juggling product knowledge, customer needs, and speed. But what if your ERP could help with the selling part, too? Grow AI Item Advisor does just that. It automatically suggests complementary products during the Epicor Prophet 21 order entry process—helping users increase order value without relying on memory, sticky notes, or rigid, manually maintained item pairing algorithms.

Behind the scenes, it uses machine learning models trained on historical sales data to identify which products tend to be purchased together. The recommendations are served in real time—right when the rep needs them, without disrupting their workflow.

The result?

  • Higher average order values
  • Fewer missed cross-sell opportunities
  • Faster, more confident order entry
  • A smoother experience for customers and sales teams alike

Now available live inside Prophet 21, Item Advisor is already attracting interest from customers using Epicor Eclipse and Epicor Kinetic ERP solutions.

With her mix of AI startup energy and enterprise-scale experience, Amulya is helping bring fresh focus to where Grow AI goes next. It was my pleasure to speak with Amulya about her background and her experiences as she helps the product marketing team spread the word about this essential new solution.

How has it been to work with Grow AI Item Advisor so far?

AR: This is the kind of AI I love. It’s visible, helpful, and doesn’t slow you down. You don’t need to open another tab or learn a new tool—it’s just there when you need it.

Were you surprised to jump into a project like this so soon after coming onboard at Epicor?

AR: It’s refreshing to join a company with deep industry roots where AI isn’t a side project. Epicor is weaving it directly into the platforms customers already use—right where it makes a difference.

Before coming to Epicor, you worked at Oracle when they launched a recall management system for healthcare providers, balancing legacy systems with customer needs. At Goldman Sachs, you worked behind the scenes on reliability and deployment pipelines and contributed to a large-scale cybersecurity initiative—getting first-hand experience with the required standards of resilience and risk mitigation for enterprise AI solutions. What was your main takeaway from these initiatives?

AR: Security and trust are foundational. Especially with AI, people need to know the system works—and that it works responsibly.

Tell me more about your role at Prime AI, a machine learning startup, where you worked with data and algorithms much like you do now at Epicor.

AR: At Prime AI, we were solving real machine learning problems—but often on a smaller scale. Epicor has the customer base, the industry depth, and now the AI platform to bring those solutions to thousands of users in real operations.

Another capability of Grow AI, Data Advisor, will identify and remove duplicates, prevent new ones, and free up teams to focus on more strategic initiatives. How would you define the value of Data Advisor?

AR: You can’t build great AI if your data’s a mess. That’s why we’re taking a platform approach—starting with a solid data foundation, so every use case is actually useful. We’re not just adding AI for the sake of it—we’re solving real problems, one step at a time.

What are you most excited about in your work with Grow AI?

"There’s a reason I joined Epicor,” Amulya says. “The team was already building something special. I’m just here to help it go further."

The launch of Grow AI Item Advisor is just the start. We’re actively recruiting Epicor customers for our Controlled Release program to shape the next set of Grow AI innovations. Whether your priority is cleaner data, better forecasting, or smarter decision support—we’d love to partner with you.
